How long has WVU Fire Service Extension existed?
WVU was founded in 1867 as a land-grant institution. In 1914 the Smith-Lever Act establishing a national Extension Service was signed into law. West Virginia was among the first 12 states to ” take the university to the people.”
WVU Fire Service Extension (WVU-FSE) held its first State Fire School in 1931. Many firefighters helped develop the first WVU-FSE curriculum.
